The Double Agent title of Blade & Soul

I and some friends, are looking for players willing to trade 1,000 faction kills for the Double Agent title. We are part of a Cerulean guild, but will be starting the game as Crimson so that we can avoid the waiting period if we started as Cerulean, switched to Crimson, and then tried to switch back to Cerulean. Also, we believe it is best to do this particular achievement ASAP because it will reset your faction rank upon switching factions.

This will be at an agreed upon time after we reach 45, though others are free to join at any level they wish to get more Blade & Soul Items. So far there are 3 of us and we’ll open this up to 9 other people. The benefit of doing it in a party of 6 is that each kill will be credited to everyone in the party.

Server: Mushin

Slot 1-A: Crimson
Slot 2-A: Crimson
Slot 3-A: Crimson
Slot 4-A: Crimson
Slot 5-A: Crimson
Slot 6-A: Crimson

Slot 1-B: Cerulean
Slot 2-B: Cerulean
Slot 3-B: Cerulean
Slot 4-B: Cerulean
Slot 5-B: Open
Slot 6-B: Open

It will take some time, but it is possible. The more people there are, the faster it will be completed.

The reason I am doing this is because I value achievement completion. However, there is a massive downside to this particular achievement in that, whenever you switch factions you lose all progression in your faction rank and you will have to leave your guild. Not only that, but you will have to wait 7 days before you can switch back to a faction you have left. That’s 7 days you can’t be in your actual guild.

The purpose of starting on the opposite faction is that I can do my 1,000 kills and then switch to my preferred faction without having truly lost anything important. I can do the kills, switch to my preferred faction immediately and start helping out my guild.

The benefit of trading them in a party is that you can resurrect the people much faster after you down them. This will speed up the entire process greatly.

In addition to the Double Agent achievement, every person in the group, after completing both sets, will have 2,000/10,000 player kills. This will not only allow them to purchase the veil that hides your name/guild at the misteye woods faction vendor after 1,000 faction kills, but will also give them 250 pierce from completing 1,000 kills.

There are also achievements for dying 1,000 times, rezzing people 1,000 times, and helping someone meditate 1,000 times, and then you may need Blade & Soul Power leveling. This will get you pretty far along in those achievements as well.

As far as making things “stupid and dull” I disagree. I just want to get this particular achievement out of the way so that I don’t have to suffer the negative effects of changing factions later.

How do you feel about the Dungeon in Blade & Soul

It depend on what you want to do tbh. if your goal is to stack out in the best gear possible, then it’s a very long journey of daily dungeon runs and various other activities to keep up the gold requirement. If your goal is to play it casually, then tbh its not much. There’s about 7~8 6 mans dungeons, only 3 of which are anywhere near being challenging. Mushin tower is fun, but after you figure out how to do the bosses, you’ll realize that it’s piss easy (it has too, because its balanced around soloing). You’ll get bored really quickly if all you look for is some “fun and diverse” end game. Its a KR game, endgame = long grind, thats it.

TLDR: if you’re looking for some “serious” endgame, then prepare for a very long grind, especially if you’re aiming for Blade & Soul Gold. If all you look for is a fun and casual time playing at the end, then there will be nothing new to see after about 3 days to a week.

This is the most accurate explanation. PvE endgame is more of a treadmill gear grind trying to get the best pieces/upgrades. You run through all the zones once at least level 50 you learn the mechanics you rinse and repeat to get the best gear. It helps to buff you out for open world PvP so you can get the most done there once you min/max stats.

It doesn’t mean they won’t release more content down the road, but the PvE as it stands doesn’t take that long and you are mostly just repeating it for gear upgrades.
The game is really built more towards PvP because that is what it is balanced around (Korean eSports for arena) and once you upgrade gear enough the content loses challenge you really just want the stats to make you stronger in open world PvP (hongmoon levels and more gear upgrades are in PvP).

Gear grind takes a long time completing the content and achievements doesn’t really. You’re eventually going to want to step in PvP anyways for materials and BNS Gold because a lot of your best stuff will come from faction related content.

Blade & Soul: My Personal Suggestions

The problem: You can not share quests with party members.
I love how they managed questing in a party. Generally speaking, 98% of all quest objectives that are able to be collected or activated, are instantly shared with party members. A big problem with WoW for example, for a long ass time, was that you had to do tedious quests like collecting X Wolf Pelts from Wolves that not only had terrible spawn rates but also horrendous drops…and you did that twice…or thrice, you name it.

Blade & Soul found a perfect solution for that and imo it’s the best one that I’ve ever come across, gj!

So, seeing the points above and AGAIN…NCSoft went the extra mile with the questerinos but on the other hand did not implement the option to share quests with your beloved party members…WHY?

Translation / Skills
Skills are worded poorly (Reduces damge of first attack by 25%)*
I think the general skilltree is amazing and love how skill work and look. The 4 squares with Range, Area, Cast, Cooldown are AMAZING and give you a fast overview what your skill currently does or will do when you spec points into Ability X.
Just yesterday, a friend of mine asked me about the wording of a skill on his LBM (i refuse to use Blade Dancer since it’s so accepted by the community already to use LBM). He read the skill description again and the first impression is that you are getting punished for putting another point into that ability, and maybe you need Blade & Soul Power leveling. because you apparently do 25% reduced damage on your next attack?

Path of Exile / Grinding Gear Games has a very strict and clear policy in regards of how functions or general descriptions are worded. VERY. VERY. specific.
My one question I have for the Dev’s here in the “West” : How much are you in charge of any of those changes? oh and… noticemesenpai

Post your input and comments down below. Think about what you’re about to post, think again and then press “submit” :)

No tl;dr.

How do you feel about Blade & Soul

I’m somewhat optimistic considering how huge of a success it is in China / Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea (especially Korea), But at the same time I have my doubts considering it took them so long to decide to localize it to our regions, and it’s already a 4 year old game. That combined with the fact that it seems our culture consists mostly of people that prefer to play casual theme park games these days. It will be interesting to see how it works out with BNS Gold. After FFXIV pulled off going from the worst MMORPG of all time to the second most popular in the west, I don’t rule anything out, but still FFXIV in an effort to become popular turned into a casual theme park WoW clone… Interested in knowing what other people think.

But I think it’ll have a healthy player base and fair well for years to come. The PvE aspect of the game isn’t fantastic in my opinion which will turn off a lot of people. I’m sure others disagree but I view this as a PvP-centric game.

If you take a look at Tera for example, most people consider it a pve game since battlegrounds either isn’t balanced or its massive zergs. Yes there’s GvG and alliance but alliance sucks and GvG isn’t overly popular. Tera’s end game pve is pretty challenging and requires good communication. I’ll say bns is on about the same level if not the same. Only reason Tera is a popular mmo was because it barely had competition. Neverwinter, dragon nest, vindictus don’t even compare to it. With black desert and bns, a lot of people are moving away from Tera. I think bns can be just as populated as post steam Tera after a few months. Maybe not off the bat, but after more people start to find out about it.

You run out of content in mmos and mmos can be grindy. Moba’s on the other hand never run out of content. Its like a sport. You dont really need to do anything for people to continue playing it, then you may need Blade & Soul Power leveling. Look at league, all they need to do is balanced one map. Mmos u need to keep creating content for people to stay interested. Its because moba’s have alot competition and people like that. Sure there’s 1v1 in bns but nowhere as competitive as moba’s. Moba’s will be superior til the end of time because its a lot more competitive and humans like competition.

Why Blade & Soul Took so Long

NCSoft, after explicitly stating that they “won’t censor Blade and Soul”, decided to basically completely rewrite the entire story. Without spoiling the story, basically they went from a story where your character does immoral things, has to make tough choices, etc, to a generic “good vs EVIL” theme.

Any times in the story where your character did something unethical, it was replaced with something else.

It essentially feels like a generic shonen anime now. The story isn’t exciting or unique at all anymore, it’s a huge insult to the original author. Your character is some shining example of a perfect human being, a hero, and everyone that opposes him/her is evil.
So they spent years looking for stuff deemed offensive with Blade And Soul Gold, and rewriting the entire story, and editing in game things like animation accordingly.

Blade & Soul

Blade and Soul easily could have came out in 2013, or 2014, but they spent so long finding content to censor when they explicitly stated there would be no censorship. Talk about baiting people into founder’s packs at Blade-Soul.

I am disappointed that they are censoring the game. It’s not as though the West is less accepting of sexual innuendo in comparison to the East. However, the West does seem to have more sensitive people that ruin experiences such as this for all of us.

That being said, myself and I’m sure many others, will be playing this game for it’s competitive PvP and good combat. Blade and Soul does its Arena PvP correctly and there is not another MMO that comes close to its competitive feeling. The game is one of the top played games in Korea for that reason and I’m sure it will thrive in the West as well.

How to craft in Blade & Soul

The resources of nature may be great, but it takes a skilled artisan to really make use of those materials. Enter the Crafting Guilds, a number of influential guilds who ultimately supply the Realm and control the economy. Unsurprisingly, many of them can be found in dangerous regions, often helping out alongside warriors in any way they can. Reputation matters here as well: the more work one does with the Crafting Guilds, the higher quality goods they can produce.

“The Radiant Ring” and “The Forgekeepers” craft stunning works of art that are both beautiful and functional, empowering warriors with fabulous accessories and mighty weapons. While those two protect the body, the “Earthseers” and the “Soul Wardens” guard the spirit – their specialty being charms, talismans, and Soul Shields. When it comes to potent potables with Cheap Blade And Soul Gold, look no further than the “Silver Cauldron” for health-bolstering tonics and potions, while the “Acquired Taste” guild will fill any warrior’s belly with fine cuisine. “The Merry Potters” may seem like the odd-man out with their focus on crafting fine ceramics, but the goods they make are used by all the other guilds, making a strong relationship with them a very wise decision for those looking to play the market.

Clan Crafting

Just as the various Gathering and Crafting Guilds are stronger when working together, so too are the warriors who form tight-knit Clans. Warriors who have high reputation with Gathering and Crafting Guilds are able to use their connections for the greater good of their Clan, accessing rare orders and recipes available only to sizable Clans. These orders are no small feat and require a combined effort: one warrior cannot do it alone! But investing time, energy, and resources into a stable Clan will pay off in the end, as Clans have access to some of the rarest and most powerful crafts around.

How to gather and craft in Blade & Soul

It takes more than warriors to make the world work. The Earthen Realm is filled with countless merchants, master crafters, and skilled artisans honing their work to perfection. Many have rallied together to form enormous guilds which reach every corner of the Realm, selling their wares and offering their services to the world… for the right price.

Contracts and Reputation

In a modern era of convenience, a warrior is no longer responsible for crafting their own equipment—it’s a practice better left to the professionals! Those looking to make use of the guilds simply need to speak with a Guild Representative, found commonly in major towns, to request a contract with the Blade & Soul Items. It’s possible to establish contracts with a maximum of two Gathering Guilds and two Crafting Guilds at a time. Specific Crafting Guilds use materials collected by specific Gathering Guilds, so it’s important that one does the necessary research to know which connections they want to make. While one can freely end contracts and start new ones at any time, one will lose their established reputation with the guild and need to start from scratch if they want to rejoin later!

Blade & Soul

Once a contract is established, a warrior can order various goods and services from a guild. After placing an order and paying a nominal fee, one must simply wait a while before the order is fulfilled for them. It’s best to place an order before adventuring, allowing the guilds to work in the meantime. All those wonderful items will be waiting when you return after a long day of righting wrongs and fighting monsters

Gathering

In order to make the finest goods, first one must gather the finest materials. Widely dubbed as Gathering Guilds, there are a handful of groups who travel far and wide digging up only the best components upon request. They are the lifeblood of the industry; without them, the Crafting Guilds would be lost. As one works with the Gathering Guilds, they will gain a reputation as being a reliable customer and thus gain access to rare materials over time.

The Gathering Guilds each specialize in sampling specific facets of nature. “The Stonecutters” gather earth and stone, while “The Prospector’s Union” specializes in rare ores and raw gems. “The Tree Fellers” and “Herbside Service” are in touch with the forest, gathering fine wood and healthy medicinal plants respectively. Since everyone needs to eat, it’s up to the “Green Thumbs” guild to farm crops, “The Trapper’s Alliance” to hunt choice prey, and the “Fish Network” to haul up the bounties of the sea.

Blade & Soul: How Do You Feel About Different Players

I dont know where people keep getting this, “Oh well that obviously wont work for Western players”. Specially when at one point the most popular MMO Diablo 2 had a RNG system that would literally make you want to throw your computer, then they added a secondary RNG system that made you want to shoot yourself afterwards. That game held out way longer then expected and was probably the WORST grindfest of its time.

There are ways for -everyone- to obtain the items they need, its not difficult to obtain the keys its just not very many have a need BNS Gold to get them beyond buying them from the shop or what they get for free due to all the founders packs.

Its just bad luck, sometimes it works out and other times it doesnt. I’ve gotten all my stuff one characters after one roll a couple rolls or up to 15 rolls. On a more positive note at least by doing that many runs you were able to get the achievement which adds… 100 hp? 50hp? Permanently.

Updating
When a new translation is out, the program will tell you once you open it. All you have to do is click “Manual” (navigates to my shared GDrive folder to manually download the xml.dat file) or “Automatic” to download the translation.
If you choose to manually download the translation update, you will have to rename the file to “xml.dat” and put it in the EnglishPatch\contents\Local\NCTAIWAN\CHINESET\data\ folder. After that, enter the version number of the new xml.dat next to “Set Version” (2015.6.9 for example). Continue to step 4 of section 4.

Notes/Extras
*”Reset Version” is the same as “Set Version” to 0.0.0. The patch is not working at all and the game returns an error even when you already have the latest version? Chances are that you have got a corrupted xml.dat. “Reset Version” and restart BladeAndSoulTWLauncher to let it download the xml.dat again.
*”Apply” and “Restore” use external scripts, advanced users can modify them to fit their need more Blade Soul gold.
*The BladeAndSoulTWLauncher will automatically set the appropriate registry entries so you can run the game portably.

ALbion Online: Free-to-Play Model Ditched

Albion Online announced something that surprised us. The game which was first announced as free-to-play title will change the model at launch. The developer Sandbox Interactive didn’t say whether the new model would be buy-to-play or pay-to-play though.

Why they change the business model? The dev explained:
Making the game ready for a free to play model would take up significant development time which we would much rather use to make a better game. Free to play would also create a lot of risks for the game – spamming, botting, world too small, etc – which we do not want to take if it can be avoided.
